Falling Leaves {a fat quarter quilt tutorial!}

The moment I saw this Shades of Autumn fabric, I knew I needed to make a quilt with it!! Since I’ve made maple leaf table runners and table toppers in the past, I really wanted to make a full quilt using those blocks. Introducing Falling Leaves!

My intention with the layout of this quilt was to create some movement with the blocks, so by rotating the direction of the blocks and adding in some negative space, it really does feel like the leaves are falling down from the tree.

Here’s a closer look at some of the prints. Aren’t they gorgeous? That large floral might be my favorite, but I also love the metallic gold text prints as well.

For the quilting I chose a bountiful feathers pantograph because really, how can you go wrong with feathers and leaves?!?!

The photo above shows a peek at the backing fabric and the fun plaid binding that also includes a metallic gold stripe. The addition of the metallic to some of these prints is perfect for fall.

Doesn’t this photo just make you want to snuggle up under the quilt while watching some football (or whatever fall shows you like to watch 😉).

I’m very happy with how this quilt turned out and I think it will look fantastic in our living room this fall. In the video tutorial linked below, I share all about how I pieced this quilt.
