Lone Star quilt block tutorial {using 2 1/2" strips and NO Y-SEAMS!!}

I have loved the Lone Star quilt block for years and I FINALLY decided to make one. This is such a classic block and so striking. I hadn’t made one in the past because tutorials I had seen called for using Y-seams (my least favorite!). Then I discovered a way to make this block WITHOUT Y-seams - sign me up!!

When I saw this Land of Liberty fabric, I thought it would look great in a Lone Star block, and I was right. The floral border is just so gorgeous! For the background fabric, I decided to use Blossom in “Uncle Sam” and it works perfectly with this collection.

I did my usual straight line quilting, this time at roughly 1/2” apart. I love the texture and how “straight” it will hang on my wall using this quilting.

To learn how to create this classic block with no Y-seams, check out my tutorial below. I hope you give it a try! It’s not as difficult as it looks, I promise!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
