Summer Quilt Alongs

Happy Monday all!  I hope you are having a great start of the week.  I just wanted to pop in and share a couple of Quilt Alongs that I thought you might be interseted in joining.  If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm easily swayed and have decided to join these two myself.  :)

The first is the Great Granny Quilt Along hosted by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet.  She is a very talented fabric designer, pattern maker and all around great sewer.  Check out her blog for some fantastic tutorials and just to look around, you will not be disappointed.

Most of you quilters have probably seen the ever popular Granny Square blocks around, well Lori takes it a step further and has created the "Great Granny"!  The best thing about this quilt along is that you can do as many or as little of the blocks as you want.  No deadlines, no pressure...now that's my kind of quilt along.  I dug into my 30's reproduction scraps and created my first Great Granny block.  Who knows when I'll get another one done, but it was fun and easy using Lori's tutorial

If you do join the Great Granny Quilt Along, be sure to add your blocks to Lori's Flickr group and also check out all of the other beautiful blocks that have already been created.

The second QAL I wanted to share is being hosted by the very talented and super sweet Alyssa over at Pile 'O Fabric.  This one is the Totally Groovy Quilt Along...now who can resist that title!  This quilt along has a set schedule that includes dates and tips for planning and choosing your fabrics, curved piecing tutorials, etc.  We will be making the "Groove" quilt Carolina Patchworks and the fun starts on August 2nd.  Check out Alyssa's blog for all of the details and also some great giveaways that go along with the QAL.

I'd love to hear from you if you decide to "quilt along" with either of these.

And since it is the beginning of another week, don't forget to check out the latest advice posts and featured bloggers on the Let's Get Acquainted Blog Hop.

Have a great week!

Amanda
